Motherwell teaches the second half of the summer session at Black Mountain Collage, near Asheville, North Carolina. Also teaching there are the painters Lyonel Feininger, Josef Albers, and Ossip Zadkine, architect Walter Gropius, and art historian Alexander Dorner. Among Motherwell's students is the artist Ray Johnson.
