Winter 1947

Kindergarten Chats by Louis Sullivan is published as the fourth volume in the Documents of Modern Art series.

The exhibition The Ideographic Picture at the Betty Parsons Gallery (January 20–February 8, 1947) presents the work of Hans Hofmann, Barnett Newman, Ad Reinhardt, Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, and others. Newman writes the catalogue essay, in which he declares a new movement in American painting.
