Rights & Reproductions
The Dedalus Foundation is the owner and guardian of the copyrights to all of Robert Motherwell’s images in all media, whether the work is in the collection of the Dedalus Foundation or in a public or private collection. In order to safeguard the artist’s moral rights and copyright with regard to the reproduction of his images and the reprinting of texts written by him, the Dedalus Foundation has established guidelines for reproduction of his works in both print media and electronic media. These guidelines define the ways in which Motherwell’s images and texts may be used in various media, such as print publications, video and audio publications, and CD-ROM and other digital and electronic media productions.
Prior to publication, rights to reproduce any image or text by Motherwell must be cleared in writing with the Foundation’s copyright agent, VAGA (Visual Artists and Galleries Association, Inc.), 350 Fifth Ave, Suite 2820, New York, N.Y. 10118 (phone: 212-736-6666; fax: 212- 736-6767; email: ). VAGA works in consort with the Foundation to ensure that all rights are cleared in accordance with the Foundation’s specific requirements.
