Pamela Auchincloss has been a professional in the visual arts field for over 30 years, starting with the Pamela Auchincloss Gallery in Santa Barbara, California, at the age of 23. Her career has included engagements in the commercial, institutional, not-for-profit, and corporate sectors alongside community services, education, and art-related board participation. Recently she joined a start-up venture in the Metaverse, making a commitment to Web3 and a virtual platform that eliminates geographical boundaries for artists, galleries and art institutions.
Following seven years in California, Ms. Auchincloss moved her gallery to New York City. In 1995 her business shifted to Chelsea and was reorganized as a curatorial services company, Arts Management Services, which organized over 60 exhibitions that traveled to museums and arts related venues throughout the United States. In 2004, she was recruited by David Ross to help launch the Artist Pension Trust (APT), where she consulted for eight years as the Managing Director of Global Operations and then served as CEO. She went on to found ELEVEN+, a curatorial organization that draws on the expertise, knowledge, and networks of eleven contemporary women curators and arts administrators from around the world. Part-time residency in Vienna, Austria led to Art By Concept (ABC) in partnership with a young Austrian woman, Ulrike Fallmann, who was previously working in arts administration at the MuseumsQuartier, Vienna. ABC is developing new art and business models with an eye to fostering more corporate investment in the visual arts as well as enabling creative strategic partnerships between art organizations and commercial business ventures. From 2017 – 2019 she worked with NOUSdigital, a digital solutions company that specializes in museum visitor apps and new engagement technologies. NOUS is based in Vienna with offices in Abu Dhabi and Denver, Colorado. Most recently, spring of 2022, she joined a start-up venture building the first dedicated art +culture platform in the Metaverse where artists, art galleries, art institutions, foundations, all related enterprises will exhibit, sell, perform, and share their creative content. ANASAEA/nAF will be fully interactive where curators, collectors, gallerists—everyone—can interact and enjoy culture and art from anywhere in the world regardless of geography.
She has served on the boards of the University of California, Pratt Institute, Danspace Project, Housing Works, and Grow NYC, a mayoral appointment. She also serves on the board of nAF. Pamela currently lives between Colorado and Vienna with frequent “stop overs” in New York.
