Since 1999, the Dedalus Foundation has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors from New York City public high schools who plan to attend college and have shown excellence in fine art or art history. In each of the two categories, submissions were judged by a panel composed of representatives from the New York City Department of Education and from local museums and colleges.

Dedalus is pleased to present an exhibition of works by the 2017 scholarship recipients. Paintings, drawings, and mixed media works are on display that highlight the technical skill and compositional creativity of artists Angie Attard, Delia Cadman, Shelley Chung, Kian McKeown, Deirdre Rouse, Janelly Santos, and Anastasiya Uraleva, winners of the Art Portfolio Scholarship.

Recipients of the Art History Scholarship, Hayley Mackenzie Bain, Sarah Balkaran, Ashley Benson, Michelle Bernstein, and Gabriella Rosen wrote their winning essays on an array of subjects ranging from Rockwell to Basquiat. Powerpoint presentations describing their research are being screened in the gallery.
