Studio Library

Motherwell was an avid reader and amassed a large collection of books on various subjects: modern art, Eastern and Western art history, philosophy, religion, psychoanalysis, and literature and poetry. Below are some of the almost 3,000 books and hundreds of journals that Robert Motherwell kept in his studio, many of which contain Motherwell’s annotations and underlining.
