Comments

To commemorate the death of Pablo Picasso in 1973, Wieland Schmied organized a series of five albums comprising a set containing lithographs, silkscreens, etchings, and aquatints on paper by American and European artists. Each artist's contribution had to be thematically related to Picasso. Each album includes a title page, a list of plates, and a justification page and is contained in a red linen-covered folder.

The albums are composed as follows.

Volume I: Pol Bury, Jorge Castillo, Corneille, Jacques Lipchitz, Giacomo Manzu, Roberto Matta, Joan Miró, Eduardo Paolozzi, Robert Rauschenberg, Fritz Wotruba

Volume II: Schusaku Arakawa, Enrico Baj, Hans Bellmer, Richard Hamilton, David Hockney, R. B. Kitaj, Nicholas Krushenick, Heinz Mack, Niki de Saint Phalle, Jean Tinguely, Cy Twombly, Jan Voss

Volume III: Pierre Alechinsky, Joseph Beuys, Lynn Chadwick, Eduardo Chillida, Christo, Alan Davie, Hap Grieshaber, Jiri Kolar, André Masson, Frank Stella, Stefan Wiewerka

Volume IV: Max Bill, Jim Dine, Allen Jones, Roy Lichtenstein, Henry Moore, Robert Motherwell, Edouard Pignon, Emil Schumacher, Herve Télémaque, Joe Tilson, Walasse Ting
