Comments
There are eight color variants for this print, each limited to an edition of six plus one artist’s proof. The plate for the Roth-Händle images was made at Tyler Graphics Ltd. and used in Tobacco Roth-Händle (cat. no. 171). Motherwell wanted to use it again and gave it to Mosley for revision and editioning in Greenwich. Printer’s proofs were made for some but not all Roth-Händle images. Because the same plate was used on all eight editions, only one cancellation proof exists.
