Comments
The Green Studio was derived from a trial proof for A la pintura: To the Palette (cat. no. 113). The original plate was a line etching printed in red Motherwell felt that the line structure could be made into a second version of the composition but determined that, alone, the delicate lattice lines were too light in weight. For this print, the original A la pintura proof was copied and made into two new plates: a line plate printed in black and an aquatint plate printed in green.
