Traveling Exhibition
October 1, 1983 - February 3, 1985
ROBERT MOTHERWELL, a retrospective exhibition of the work of the preeminent American abstract painter, opens 12 April at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition includes approximately ninety paintings and collages dating from 1941 to 1982, representing each of Motherwell’s major themes. Organized by the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York, the exhibition is made possible by grants from the IBM Corporation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
This exhibition traveled to Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Seattle Art Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
