GaHee Park (Hunter College, CUNY) is a recipient of the 2016 Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in Painting & Sculpture.
A native of Seoul, South Korea, much of GaHee Park’s work address the subjectivity of norms she faced moving between cultures and countries. Particularly the paradox of the cultural freedom, and racial subjugation and stereotyping she has experienced since coming to the United States. Her paintings often express her otherness as she adopts the perspective of domesticated animals and plants “observing” scenes of human behavior.
